Serving as the gateway to Vigan City, the municipality of Bantay is best known for its majestic Bantay Belltower and its historical St. Augustine Church. Formerly part of Vigan, it was then in 1593 when it was established as a pueblo under the Maura Law. At present time, Bantay stands as a 3rd class municipality in Vigan City. According to the 2020 census, the town has an estimated population of 37, 118 people.

Aside from its majestic Bantay Belltower, travelers and visitors alike can enjoy a stroll at the Old Quirino bridge. Named after the late president Elpidio Quirino, it is a 456-meter arch bridge that connects the town of Santa and Bantay, both in Ilocos Sur. Quirino bridge is considered as one of the beautiful bridges in the country, due to its great architectural design and has served as a backdrop for local films, particularly in the Fernando Poe Jr. movies.

Plane

You can take a direct flight (Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines) from Manila to Laoag City. You will reach your destination in about an hour. After your flight, ride a tricycle going to bus terminals (Partas or GV Florida, or Fariñas) that have daily trips to Bantay. You can easily spot Camella Bantay along the National Highway. Ask the conductor to drop you off at the site.
