Let us tell you about One Stop Service Centers for OFWs or OSSCO.

Following the mission of reducing the transportation expense, shortening the time of document processing, and promoting the overall welfare of aspiring and returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and migrant Filipinos, an all-in-one service center was launched by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) called the One-stop Service Center for OFWs or OSSCO.

Initially launched last August 15th, 2016, DOLE joined hands with several government agencies and regional offices to shorten the processing time of documents needed by OFWs.

What is One Stop Service Center for OFWs?

Looking back, our Kababayans who are planning to work or return abroad have to hop from one agency to another just to accomplish and acquire the papers needed for their travel. As OSSCO is a centralized government agent forged to consolidate government frontline services, it effectively eliminates the need for returning or aspiring OFWs to travel different places in order to process documents they need abroad.

Now, with OSSCO, they can finish the acquisition of such fine print all in one single place.

The creation of OSSCO is also in line with the Republic Act No. 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018, aiming to streamline the current systems and procedures of various government services.

The One Stop Service Center for OFWs is just one of the government’s numerous initiatives to promote the welfare of our OFWs and migrant Filipinos. The amount of time OFWs spend in processing such fine print can now be used to spend more time and bond with their families before flying back abroad. They don’t have to spend the whole day just to accomplish one or two documents only to go back tomorrow for another fine print.

Not to mention amount of savings they can get when it comes to travel expenses. As this is an all-in-one service center, OFWs can possibly finish processing their necessary documents in one take; inside the cool temperature of air-conditioned buildings. Imagine the comfort of not walking under the scorching heat of the sun just to acquire a piece of paper or two.

Every aspiring or returning OFW can now safely and easily process their necessary travel documents in just a breeze through ORCC!
